Thanks in large part to the Kristin Chenoweth Arts And Education Fund, we have begun development of an after-school program. This groundbreaking partnership with Broken Arrow Neighbors and Broken Arrow Public Schools will be called “Kristin’s Artists of Promise.” The program will be directed towards a select group of elementary students who might not be afforded the opportunity to express or grow their creativity elsewhere, or may need a safe place to be after school hours. Students will not be selected on socioeconomic status alone.
All children have an innate potential to become greater than themselves and what came before them. Through our continued support, we aim to inspire students to discover their own true promise.
Our pilot program will begin after spring break and will see students explore the magic of visual art, percussion and dance. Children will engage in activities such as building costume pieces, creating rhythmic compositions with plastic buckets and cardboard tubes, and learning a choreographed dance.
Student experiences will culminate in a performance to be held at the Guthrie Green in Tulsa. Along with these activities, a healthy snack will be provided after school, as well as a sack “dinner” to take home at the end of the day. We are actively seeking new partnerships with local restaurants and caterers to give our kids a monthly sit-down meal experience.
If “Kristin’s Artists of Promise” can change even one child’s life for the better, we will have succeeded in our mission.
