SUMMARY:302 Children's Choir and Mallet Ensemble Concert
DESCRIPTION:Arts@302 is proud to present the very first concert for our music classes on Thursday\, November 17th at 5:45pm. The 302 Children’s Choir and the Mallet Instrument Ensemble will come together for a combined performance showcasing everything that they have learned over the past 10 weeks. The concert will be held inside the Arts@302 gallery and is free to the public. \nThe 302 Children’s Choir is comprised of 32 kids in 3rd-6th grade that have explored fundamental music concepts and vocal technique over the 8 classes. They will prepare two songs for the concert. First is Frank Wildhorn’s\, “I Have a Voice”\, which was composed for the 2015 “Broadway Kids Against Bullying”. It includes a powerful message about self confidence and trust. The second piece is Tom Shelton’s “Animal Imagination”\, a whimsical romp full of fun words\, rhythms\, and motions. The 302 Children’s Choir is directed by Caleb Cline and Caleb Ricketts. \nThe Mallet Instrument ensemble is comprised of 10 kids in 3rd-6th grade that have explored improvisation\, composition\, and play through the Orff-Schulwerk method. Participating kids will be playing xylophones and glockenspiels\, as well as incorporating body percussion\, motions\, and spoken lines.  They have prepared a selection of songs that are tied together by the book\, The Knight Owl. The Mallet Instrument Ensemble is directed by Michelle McCarver.
