SUMMARY:Workshop: Stained Glass Glazing
DESCRIPTION:Sat\, April 27th 11am-2pm\nAdults | $45 \nIn this unique workshop\, Tulsa artist Kirsten Morehead will show you how to achieve her iconic\, tactile\, stained-glass style ceramics; learn to turn earthenware bisque (unglazed ceramic) into stained glass masterpieces! PRIOR CERAMIC EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CLASS! \nBisque is pottery that has already been fired once. Unfired clay is unsuitable for this class. Bring your earthenware bisque\, or purchase a 6″x6″ tile kit for $15 or a 24oz. Mug kit for $35 directly from the instructor! Each kit from the instructor will include the earthenware bisque piece of your choice and one 1.25oz. bottle of white or black Duncan French Dimension glaze. (You may keep the 1.25oz. bottle of white or black Duncan French Dimension glaze\, or return the remainder of the bottle to the instructor for a $5 rebate at the end of class.) The instructor will provide all other glazes for you to use for the duration of this class. This class will utilize low-fire underglazes\, dimensional raised glazes\, and low-fire clear-glaze. All finished pieces will be food\, dishwasher\, and microwave-safe. Finished pieces must be left to be fired. The instructor will contact participants when pieces are ready for pick-up within two weeks of class at Arts@302. \nIf you are bringing outside bisque or glazes\, you’ll need to have previous experience with the materials you bring into the studio. The instructor must review all outside glazes before they are allowed to go through the kiln. Any glazes incompatible with an 06 glaze firing will not be permitted in this class. Stoneware bisque may be used with the glazes provided – as long as it is not intended to be food-safe. Any unglazed ceramic pieces (other than those provided in kits for purchase directly from the instructor) must be reviewed by the instructor to ensure they are compatible with kiln-firing. Any pieces deemed incompatible with kiln-firing by the instructor cannot be used in this class\, and a kit will need to be purchased directly from the instructor to participate. \nSign up
