DESCRIPTION:February’s Second Saturday falls on Valentine’s Day! This month\, families will create a Valentine’s Puzzle Purse – a folded paper “letter” that opens layer by layer to reveal hidden messages\, drawings\, and designs inside. \nFebruary SSA Artist Kayla Anley will guide families with fun writing prompts and examples to help spark ideas. Participants can write sweet notes\, silly messages\, poems\, or positive affirmations. You’ll then fold your paper and decorate it using colored pencils\, markers\, and pens\, creating a finished craft you can gift to someone special (or keep for yourself). \nThis is a free\, come-and-go family event. Puzzle Purses typically take 30–45 minutes to complete. Younger children will need a grown-up’s help\, and families are encouraged to create together. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 24th 12pm-2pmAges 8-12 | $30 | Instructor: Britt Bachmann \nCreepers and zombies and ghasts\, oh my! In this hands-on workshop\, young artists will bring their favorite Minecraft characters to life. Off the screen and into 3D! \nStudents will start by sketching the characters they want to build\, then use their drawings as blueprints to design 3D versions made from recycled cardboard\, paper\, and a variety of craft materials. Along the way\, they’ll learn how to construct cubes and other geometric forms\, paint and decorate their creations\, and add textures and details that make each piece uniquely theirs. \nOnce their characters are complete\, students can keep building by adding props\, blocks\, or even whole mini biomes for their creations to explore. DESCRIPTION:November’s Second Saturday Art Activity is Wooden Wonderblobs with Julian DeLesDernier\, our resident Woodshop Wizard! First you’ll grab some work goggles and sandpaper to smooth out your wooden blob. Then you’ll bring it to life with paint\, googly eyes\, and other fun materials. You can create a creature\, a vehicle\, or anything else you can imagine. We’ve got the blobs. You bring the wonder! \nAll supplies are provided and all ages are welcome. Children 6 and under will need significant parental help. This is a free come-and-go activity\, and most Wonderblobs can be completed in around 45 minutes. Our staff will walk you through how to create your mechanical pal from a cup\, a paper towel roll\, and lots of colorful folded paper.
