Join us on Saturday\, September 14th 10am-1pm to make your own unique “zine” with the help of wordsmith extraordinaire\, Josh Wann. \n“Zines” are mini-books that are easily manufactured and shared. Because of the variety of creative options zines offer and their accessibility\, it is a long-time favorite of artists\, writers\, and anyone wanting to share ideas or information in a unique way. \nIt is perfect for all ages (as long as someone can help with folding and cutting) and zines can be made as fast as 5-minutes\, but are better if you take some time to add details like color and illustrations. Zines can also be collaborative or passed around a group of friends or family. Looking for inspiration? You can grab one of our zine prompts to springboard you into a new creative direction! \nYour zine can tell a story\, hold a poem\, display art\, or even spread details about an event\, party\, or new idea. Some of my favorite things to do with a zine. \n\nInvent a new word – use the pages to describe/show its definition and possible uses\nWrite a message – make a silly\, fun\, or encouraging note for someone rad in your life.\nInvite creativity – ask a question or share an idea – pass it on or leave it out in public.\n\n\nZINES AROUND THE WORLD CHALLENGE \nZines are best when they’re shared! Whether you gift them to friends and family or spread them around your favorite spots around town – we want to see it! SUMMARY:Workshop: Poured Acrylic Jewelry Making
DESCRIPTION:Sat\, July 20th 10am-3pm\nAll Ages 10+ | $60 \nAcrylic skins are gorgeously colorful poured acrylic leftover paint that has dried. In this fun class\, you’ll use them to make your own one-of-a-kind wearable jewelry! You’ll get to choose 4 pieces of jewelry blanks from the instructor’s collection of pendant necklaces\, rings\, earrings\, bracelets\, and barrettes. There are a variety of options available for every person and style. \nYou’ll glue the proper size glass pieces (called cabochons) onto a piece of acrylic skin. The instructor will go over how acrylic skins are made. You’ll cut around your cabochons with scissors and the instructor will cut them out closely with an Exacto knife while you watch. You’ll then glue your finished cabochons into your chosen jewelry blanks. If you choose earrings\, you’ll get to finish the earring with “fixings”. For necklaces\, you’ll choose a premade chain or cord or you can cut your own to the length you want and add a clasp\, or you can tie an adjustable slipknot cord from faux leather. \nThis class is open to adults and children ages 10 and up. Children 11 and under will require a parent/guardian to accompany them. If the guardian would also like to participate they will need to also enroll in the class. DESCRIPTION:Sat\, June 15th 10am-3pm\nAll ages 8+ | $50 \nAcrylic pouring is a form of art that involves mixing different acrylic paint colors with a pouring medium and then pouring the paint directly on to a canvas without a brush. In this workshop\, you’ll learn to create 1-2 gorgeous\, colorful abstract canvases that anyone would be proud to hang in their home. No drawing skills required! \nThis class will cover how to liquify acrylic paint\, how to pair colors together\, and also explore a few different pouring methods. After the session\, finished pieces will remain at Arts@302 for complete drying before your instructor varnishes and completes them. You will be notified when your pieces are ready for pick-up. \nThis class is open to all ages 8+\, but children 11 and younger will require an adult to accompany them. SUMMARY:Second Saturday Art: Polymer Clay Imaginary Friends
DESCRIPTION:It’s time for June’s Second Saturday art event! Join us on Saturday\, June 8th 10am-1pm to make your own Mini Imaginary Friends out of polymer clay! This activity will be led by our Clay Studio Manager\, Kirsten Morehead. \nDesign your own imaginary friend on paper\, then recreate them into a 2”-3” sculpture out of polymer clay! Participants will have the option to turn their sculpture into a keychain or magnet\, or leave it as a stand alone statue! This free come-and-go event is open to all ages. Children ages 10 and below will need a grown-up to help them. \nPlease be prepared to leave your sculpture for 30-45 minutes after completing it so we can bake it for you on-site. Get a pick-up card and then go grab some coffee or lunch\, and come back to grab your finished masterpiece! This activity will be open from 10-1\, so please plan to have all sculptures finished by 1:15pm at the absolute latest to allow for pick-up by 2pm\, if you want it the same day. Any pieces completed after 1:15pm will be available for pick-up at our front desk during normal business hours.  \nThis event coincides with our Local Artist Market located on our south patio.

DESCRIPTION:It’s time for May’s Second Saturday Art event! Join us on Saturday\, May 11th 10am-1pm. In honor of the Fiesta de Mayo Celebration\, we will create tissue paper flowers. No one knows how the tradition of paper flowers began in Mexico\, but it is thought that Spanish settlers brought tissue paper from China. It is believed that paper flowers were used to decorate churches during the winter when flowers were less available. \nAll ages can take part in the fun free activity. Younger children will need assistance from their grown up. This come-and-go event is even more fun with friends – the more the merrier! It will take around 15-20 minutes to make a beautiful flower and longer if you want to make more. We will also have complimentary donuts and coffee available for all. 🍩 \nThis event coincides with our Arts@302 Art Market held on our south patio.
