Whats Your Story?: Art Program for Veterans

Free Program

Thursdays 1pm-4pm September 11th-October 2nd

Are you a veteran or a family member of a veteran? Do you have a story you’d like to share with your family and friends? “What’s Your Story?” is an opportunity for local veterans to connect with other vets and learn new skills to share their story through art and writing. In this four-session class you’ll write a short memoir about a memorable event in your service career and create an illustration to enhance your story. No experience in writing or art is necessary. You’ll receive instruction in both writing and art.

This course is completely free to all veterans that register with a maximum of 10 participants. The first two sessions will be focused on writing and the last two on creating a piece to illustrate the story. Once the course is completed the works will be featured at a reception for the veteran artists and their guests hosted at Arts@302.

This is a free and first-of-its-kind course offered through a grant from the OK Arts Council, OK Military History Center, Soldier’s Wish, Arts@302 and generous local patriots. Instructor Romney Nesbitt is a long-time volunteer with the OK Military History Center in Broken Arrow and art instructor at Arts@302.

The grant stipulates that participants must commit to attending all 4 sessions, writing a story and creating one illustration.
